How to Make the Best Christmas Tree Cake

Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup fresh Dolce Frutti Minneola Tangelos  juice
  • Pinch of salt

For the Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Green gel food coloring

How to Make the Christmas Tree Cake

Bake the Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a rectangular baking pan.
  2. Put butter and sugar in a chilled bowl and cream together until it becomes fluffy.
  3. Start adding eggs in the mixture. Put one at a time and wait until it fully gets combined before adding the other one.
  4. Now, add your temple orange juice and combine.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour, salt, and baking powder.
  6. Add half of the dry mixture to the batter, mix. Add half the milk. Repeat until smooth.
  7. Pour into the pan and bake for 22–26 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool completely, then cut into triangle “tree” shapes.

Make the Frosting

  1. Beat softened butter until creamy.
  2. Start adding the powdered sugar gradually.
  3. Pour in milk until the frosting becomes smooth in consistency.
  4. Add vanilla extract.
  5. Tint with green gel coloring and mix until evenly blended.

Decorate the Trees

  1. Frost each triangle generously with green buttercream.
  2. Sprinkle chopped almonds and pistachios over the frosting for festive color and crunch.
  3. Add Christmas sprinkles or edible stars.
  4. Dust lightly with powdered sugar for a snowy effect.
